Introductory Meeting – Thursday, September 19th

Voices of Harmony wants you!

On Thursday, September 19th at 6:30PM, Voices of Harmony will hold an Introductory Meeting, inviting all members of the community to join us in song and conversation!

This event is FREE, and food and drink will be served.

Who’s invited? Everyone in the Boston-area who’s interested in strengthening our diverse community through music and cross-cultural dialogue.

When and where? On Thursday, September 19th from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, at the Josephine A. Fiorentino Community Center at 123 Antwerp Street, Boston, MA.

The venue is T-accessible and there is also ample free parking available at the venue. The building is completely wheelchair-accessible.

We welcome people of all genders, all ethnicities and cultural backgrounds, and all levels of singing experience! Join us if you love to sing and want to learn!

Tara Tresner-Kirsch is our new music director

We are excited to announce that Tara Tresner-Kirsch is our new music director!  Tara has been singing and instigating group singing since she was a tiny child. She experiences the transformative power of music-making in her daily life and believes that we all have the capacity to make our own life-sustaining music through song. 

Tara is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist (piano, cello, and organ) who discovered her passion for choral direction through her work at Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church where she has been Music Director since 2013. In addition to this work, Tara currently teaches private instrumental lessons and is a founding member of the band Sunken City, which plays a wide range of music including jazz, tango, rock, blues etc. In the past, Tara has also led and taught musicians in Needham and Watertown Public Schools and at First Church Somerville.

In 2014 she completed the intensive Community Choir Leadership Training (CCLT) of the Ubuntu Choirs Network. Through this experience, Tara was immersed in many methods of teaching, but most especially in the oral tradition. She also found a new call to focus on the experience of rehearsal and singing together for their own sake in addition to the final product. 
When Tara is not making music, she loves to try different styles of dance (currently it’s tap), climb indoor rock walls, and grow food and flowers in her gardens.

Voices of Harmony presents our 9^th annual Spring Sing. We welcome you to enjoy our full repertoire and join us after the concert for a reception with free light snacks and great conversation! Our repertoire is an eclectic mix from home and abroad that touches us all, and embraces our identities.

WHEN: Monday May 20th, 7:30pm
WHERE: Josephine A Fiorentino Community Center, 123 Antwerp Street Extension, Brighton, MA 02135

Parking: Free parking is available on Western Avenue, Antwerp Street Extension and nearby side streets (Justinian Way, Gould Street, Litchfield Street, etc.)

Suggested donation: $10 per person
